GYNAEONCOLOGY UNIT
Introduction
Female genital tract cancer is one of the most common malignancies in Nepal. Cervical cancer is one of the
most common cancer to be diagnosed and treated followed by ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, cancer
of vulva and vagina and other miscellaneous cancers. Gynecological unit is commited to the comprehensive
care of these pat ents. We also treat numerous gynecological benign condit ons, who are atended in OPD.
Services
We provide outpat ent services 6 days a week. Services include consultat on, LBC, VIA, colposcopy, biopsy,
thermocoagulat on, and other minor procedures. We operate three days a week, where major and minor
operat ons are performed.
For inpat ent services, 13 beds are allocated for our unit in surgical oncology ward III. In near future, we are
having our own gynecology unit with 33 beds. Major operat ons are admited before surgery and workup and
preparat ons are done and postoperat ve pat ent care and discharge also done in the ward.
We have started laparoscopic surgery in gynecology unit of this hospital and pat ents sat sfact on and recovery
also good afer the laparoscopic surgery.

Academic Activities
Trainees and MD residents from different places are coming to our unit as visit ng scholars. Paramedics are
also trained in the screening program in cervical pathology with collaborat on of cancer prevent on wing of
the hospital. doctors are act vely involved in training of program of FHD as trainers.
